Dyson belt from motor to brushroll
These belts fit direct drive models from the motor shaft to the brushroll, failure of the belt will cause the brushroll not to turn which will affect the ability to pick up and remove dust etc from carpets
Failure of these belt are from wear and tear but can also be caused by running the vacuum cleaner over the corners of rugs and carpets particular those with tassles, and with strong suction that Dyson vacuum cleaners have this can result in the carpet/ rug/tassles being sucked into the brush roll which instantly jams the brush roll and burns through the belt (strong rubber burning smell)
You will need to remove the base plate over the brushroll to replace a belt and on fitting the belt make sure that the belt in central on the brushroll by turning the brush by hand a few times, This will ensure that when you fit the base plate you do not trap the belt between the baseplate and housing as this will instantly break the belt again
